Still there are many ways to travel to Galicia.

Flying to Galicia

If you plan to go by plane to Galicia there are several options. Depending your origin you can choose where to fly to. Galicia has three international airports: Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña and Vigo. Of them, the airport of Santiago is the largest and handles the most flights.
In case you cannot fly directly to one of the three international airports you can choose a stop over in Barcelona of Madrid. From both cities there are daily flights to the largest Galician airports.
An alternative for flying to Galicia is the airport of Oporto in Portugal. From Oporto it’s a short trip by car, train or coach to any city in Galicia.

Airports in Galicia

Santiago de Compostela
A Coruña
Vigo

Find your flight via Skyscanner

Travelling by train

You can also go by train to Galicia. If you like travelling by train just as I do this is a perfect option. Since 2015 there is a high speed connection between Madrid and Santiago de Compostela. This is called AVE, the Spanish high speed train. In three hours you can travel between both cities. The AVE train also stops in Ourense.
Currently they are still working on an AVE connection to Vigo and A Coruña. Till then you can take the train if you like to travel by train, but don’t expect a fast connection. Sit back and relax. If you want to travel fast by public transport you’d better take the bus.

Travel like a Pilgrim

Off course, the most iconic way to travel to Galicia is as a Pelgrim.
