Dit bizarre verhaal is verfilmd in de film As Bestas en wint diverse filmprijzen.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prijzen in Europa, discussie in Galici\u00eb<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>De film As Bestas <em>(es: las bestias, nl: de beesten)<\/em> heeft prijzen gewonnen bij de Goya&#8217;s en de C\u00e9sar, zeg maar de Spaanse en Franse Oscar&#8217;s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Spanje is de film ook veel bekeken, maar zorgt het &#8211; met name in Galici\u00eb &#8211; ook voor veel discussie. Want zien we hier het echte Galici\u00eb? Het leven is hard in het arme, uitgestrekte gebied, maar de sfeer is er volgens velen niet zoals je in de film ziet. In de film speelt xenofobie, angst voor vreemdelingen. De hoofdrolspeler, die uit het buitenland komt, is er niet welkom. Velen Gallego&#8217;s herkennen zich hier niet in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Waar gaat de film over?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>De film As Bestas gaat over een Frans koppel dat zich in het binnenland van Galici\u00eb vestigt. Er ontstaat discussie over een windmolenpark bij het dorp en xenofobie richting de buitenlander die zich in Galici\u00eb vestigt. De Fransman en de Gallego&#8217;s staan lijnrecht tegenover elkaar. Hoe het afloopt moet je zelf maar bekijken, al krijg je wel een idee als je hieronder doorleest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Behalve een boeiend verhaal speelt de film zich natuurlijk ook af in een boeiend landschap. Je ziet het binnenland van Galici\u00eb. Voor velen de andere, onbekende kant van Galici\u00eb. Dit waargebeurde verhaal betreft de Nederlandse Martin en Margo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dit Nederlandse stel verhuisde begin van dit millennium naar het gehucht Santoalla. Dit gehucht ligt in het Galicische binnenland, vlak onder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.galiciatips.com\/nl\/bestemmingen\/lugo\/\">Lugo<\/a> en vlakbij <a href=\"https:\/\/www.galiciatips.com\/nl\/bestemmingen\/portomarin\/\">Portomarin<\/a>. Ze hopen hier\u00a0 meer rust en natuur te vinden. In het gehucht woont nog \u00e9\u00e9n andere familie. Een ouder stel met hun twee volwassen zonen. Aanvankelijk is de relatie goed, maar later verslechtert deze als er discussie is over het gebruik van het bos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Op een dag in 2010 verdwijnt Martin. Pas 4 jaar later worden zijn lijk en auto gevonden. Ook ontdekt men dan pas dat het moord betreft. De jongste zoon uit het dorp wordt opgepakt, hij bekend en wordt ontoerekeningsvatbaar verklaart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het vervolg is verrassend. Tot veler verbazing blijft weduwe Margo in Santoalla wonen. Ze wil Martins droom voortzetten. Ook heeft ze het gevoel dat als ze verhuisd uit Santoalla dat ze Martin verlaat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2016 is er al eens een documentaire gemaakt over dit verhaal. Deze documentaire heet Santoalla. Weduwe Margo doet hierin uitgebreid verslag van de gebeurtenissen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recent heeft ze ook aan NOS haar verhaal vertelt in een korte reportage.
